Steve retired from the Coast Guard after 34 years of service where he achieved the rank of Captain. He began his Coast Guard career as an enlisted man before becoming a commissioned officer. As an officer, he commanded two ships and patrolled the waters of Oregon, Washington, and Alaska. Of particular note, he spent 4 years with the USCG Cutter Resolute, homeported in Astoria, where he became familiar with the waterfront, the Port of Astoria, and the local maritime community. Commissioner Dirk Rohne

Dirk Rohne was elected to the Port Commission in July 2017. Commissioner Rohne has lived in Brownsmead for over 45 years, with the exception of time away at Oregon State University and abroad in Germany and New Zealand. He and his wife operate a dairy farm which they purchased in 2001. The 200 acre farm has close to 300 cows of different ages. James Campbell came to Astoria by way of the United States Navy and has been a resident for over 65 years. Originally from the land-locked state of Oklahoma, he has established himself as a marine contractor, with construction projections from the Bering Sea up-and-down the Pacific Coast, and as far as the Gulf of Mexico. Scott's 28-year Coast Guard career allowed him to serve as an Independent Duty Health Services Technician during three deployments to Antarctica, one to the Arctic Ocean and several to Central America. There are public comment periods in each of the Commission's regular scheduled meetings-- the regular session on the 1st Tuesday of each month and a workshop on the 3rd Tuesday of each month.
